Engagement sessions have come a long way from the traditional posed portraits once used for newspaper announcements. Today, they’re an opportunity for couples to express their personalities, whether that means capturing timeless images at their future wedding venue or planning a creative session built around a favorite hobby, date night, or meaningful location.
When planning the details for their portraits, Kaitlyn & Aaron decided they could do both. Along with their photographer, Savannah Steiger Photography, they started with formal portraits taken outside their ceremony venue and walking around the charming downtown La Crosse. Kaitlyn wore a white midi dress with flutter sleeves and strappy wedges, while Aaaron coordinated in a white dress shirt with navy dress pants and brown dress shoes.
They mixed posed photos with motion, capturing a gallery that felt joyful and cinematic.
The second part of the engagement session took place at All Star Lanes & Banquets, where Kaitlyn & Aaron changed into casual attire for a fun, nostalgic date night at the bowling alley. Savannah Steiger Photography adjusted her lens to the indoor setting, embracing the grain of film photography as the couple enjoyed a few snacks and posed on the lanes—and cuddled upon the glowing neon carpets!
