Snowy Elegance at Chapters on the Horizon: Winter Wedding Inspiration Through Two Lenses

Winter weddings in Wisconsin are full of beauty and opportunity, and couples choose snowy celebrations for several reasons. Beyond calm, scenic backdrops and the joy of the holiday season, winter weddings often offer more flexibility with venue dates, vendor availability, and even budget. The possibilities and palettes are endless, from classic seasonal colors (white, green, red) to unexpected combinations that feel fully personalized. This styled shoot, coordinated by Northwoods Event Services, leaned into classic winter colors and décor, with plenty of candlelight and luxe gold accents throughout.

No matter the season, however, many decisions go into planning a dream wedding. Every couple’s priorities differ, but choosing a photographer is often one of the most important aspects in the process. Photographers, videographers, and content creators preserve a monumental day for generations to come, and each professional comes with a unique perspective, vision, and editing style.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to wedding photography, and that’s what makes it such a personal and meaningful choice. Every photographer brings a distinct perspective to a wedding gallery, so it’s important to narrow down what approach speaks most to you as a couple. Consider what draws you in, how you want your day to feel when you look back on it, which moments matter most to you, and the overall tone you envision. In the end, your photos should feel like an extension of your story, thoughtfully captured through a creative eye you trust.

Watch the recap video from Yellow Seven Films, then dive into the galleries captured by two distinct photographers, Angie Capwell Photography and Elizabeth Carpenter Photography.

First up, Angie Capwell Photography focused on warm tones and artful, limited focal points. Her gallery leaned toward a documentary-style approach, with darker tones more pronounced and a higher overall contrast.

Local stationer, Whimsical Design & Décor, provided a luxe stationery suite, including an invitation, details card, and RSVP, enclosed in a vellum wrap secured with a velvet ribbon. Every element included seasonal greenery imagery and was printed on thick cardstock, torn at the edges.

Hair and makeup artist, Chelsea Luebke, channeled warm seasonal tones into the bridal makeup. She selected soft brown eyeshadow, bold liner, layered blush, and dark mauve lip. For model Kina’s hair, Chelsea Luebke chose a dramatic, swept-over side part, with loose waves, and accessorized by a microveil secured at her temple.

Kina wore a strapless, boho lace-overlay dress with a sweetheart neckline and a natural lace train. For outdoor photos, the wedding gown was easily accessorized with a faux-fur shawl.

The second photo gallery, captured through the lens of Elizabeth Carpenter Photography, was crisp and cool, offering a wider focus, bright whites, and a glimpse at the fleeting details in every scene.

Chapters on the Horizon is a year-round event venue that offers modern comforts and amenities while still delivering a rural feel. The team showcased many spaces in this styled shoot, including the grand entryway, reception hall, preparation suite, on-site accommodations, cozy firepit, and—of course—outdoor photo locations with stunning views!

La Crosse HyVee brought a single-tier white cake, expertly piped with blush and white frosted roses and twigs. Real eucalyptus leaves made the perfect finishing touches, creating more dimension. The cake was displayed on a crystal cake stand, elegantly framed by natural light filtering through tall block windows.
