Celestial Wedding Inspiration at B’s Place in West Salem, Wisconsin | Midsummer Dream

Traditionally, midsummer celebrations are closely tied to the summer solstice, when daylight reaches its longest stretch of the year. The solstice has long been celebrated as a time to welcome summer, honor the natural world, and celebrate fertility and growth. In Sweden, Midsummer is one of the country’s most beloved holidays, marked by flowers, feasting, dancing, and time spent together—much like a wedding celebration.

That free-spirited joy of midsummer became the heart of this editorial design at B’s Place Event Venue in West Salem, Wisconsin. Bloom & Knot LLC took inspiration from these celebrations and, along with a team of local wedding professionals, transformed the venue into a romantic Midsummer Dream through lush blooms, vintage details, and the warmth of a summer sunset color palette.

Along with concept, design, and florals from Bloom & Knot LLC, this eclectic wedding design included the talents and collaboration of Skyler & Vhan Photography, Sam Lauersdorf Photography, LK Bridal Studio, Charlotte’s Bridal & Formal Wear, Pamperin Salon and Spa, Event Essentials, Orange Door Event Rentals, Resource Vintage Rental, Cowboy David’s Bakery, and The Artist Brenda Berg.

Color, contour cuts, and whimsy were top of mind for LK Bridal Studio when creating the stationery and signage pieces for this wedding design. They worked within a color palette of gold, blush, dusty blue, champagne, and bold orange, with burgundy accents across the pieces, and played with the contrast between rounded and pointed edges.

A celestial theme wouldn’t be complete without the sun, moon, and stars, which also influenced the pieces’ shapes. The suite began with a round volvelle invitation, where viewers rotated the top piece in a circle to reveal a four-part love poem about the time of day. Additional pieces included an arched details card with a sun illustration, a rounded-corner RSVP with a custom couple monogram and cloud illustration, a square printed envelope, and star-shaped menus in orange and blush.

Later, LK Bridal Studio also provided a star-shaped welcome sign and signage at the bar.

B’s Place Event Venue is a historic event venue, lovingly restored and modernized from its original 1901 design to accommodate up to 200 guests comfortably. Vaulted stamped tin ceilings, wooden floors, and red brick walls are staples of the venue, making B’s Place Event Venue the perfect fit for couples seeking a rustic, antique feel for their day.

The team leaned into vintage elements for Midsummer Dream, starting with a paper moon ceremony backdrop, characterized by its crescent shape, serene face, and rosy cheeks. Paper moons rose to popularity in the early 1900s in silent films or as theatre props, making this backdrop perfect for a vintage, celestial theme.

Bloom & Knot LLC provided a variety of floral arrangements throughout the day, each including cream and peach garden roses, burgundy and blush dahlias, burgundy scabiosa, blue eryngium, delicate blue filler flowers, scabiosa pods, hanging amaranthus, fine-textured filler, fern foliage, and ruscus-style greenery. At the ceremony, lush floral arrangements grounded both sides of the paper moon and also sat on pedestals draped with white cloth, with green and burgundy amaranths cascading from the edges.

Charlotte’s Bridal & Formal Wear fashioned both models for the occasion, starting with a strapless, ethereal gown for the bride. The A-line dress featured a sweetheart neckline on a fitted bodice with exposed boning cinching the waist before extending into a delicate skirt with a cathedral-length train. Light, airy layers of tulle with fine, embroidered details made the dress float through every scene.

The groom wore a dusty mauve suit jacket with a white dress shirt, black pants, and black dress shoes. Stepping away from a traditional black suit jacket and tie kept his look light and effortless while also emphasizing his floral boutonniere from Bloom & Knot LLC.

Hair and makeup artist Pamperin Salon and Spa gave the bride a soft edge with a smoky eye and red lip. They tightly curled her hair, then secured it into a textured, voluminous low updo. An ornate halo crown accessory nodded to light rays, celestial light, and divine radiance.

At the reception scene, the couple shared a curved sweetheart table set beneath gold arches from Orange Door Event Rentals accented with hanging stars and greenery from Bloom & Knot LLC. A long, dusty blue tablecloth covered the surface, adorned with candles, vintage plating, gold flatware, crystal glassware, and lavender napkins.

For couples recreating this look, the combination of dusty blue linens, gold accents, candlelight, and celestial shapes offers an easy way to build a celestial wedding palette without relying exclusively on navy or black. Choose one or two celestial motifs, such as stars, moons, or constellations, and repeat them subtly across stationery, signage, table décor, and cake details for a cohesive look.

Orange Door Event Rentals, Event Essentials, and Resource Vintage Rental provided rental pieces throughout this dreamy summer wedding inspiration. Event Essentials provided the linens, while twin velvet chairs from Resource Vintage Rental created a cozy lounge in front of B’s Place Event Venue’s fireplace.

Florals, lanterns, wooden pieces, candles, white drapery, and fruit as décor also added warmth and character to this setting.

The couple made their way over to B’s Place Event Venue’s bar, a full-service option for weddings or special events, to raise a toast. LK Bridal Studio added a pop of orange to the rustic scene, with an arched drink sign with cloud illustrations and acrylic moon and stars asymmetrically placed on top.

Skyler & Vhan Photography also used the venue’s beautiful wooden indoor staircase and charming outdoor spiral staircase to capture romantic photos of the couple, experimenting with height and composition. Their final gallery offered an array of natural light and flash photography, demonstrating the possibilities in a lower-light venue setting.

At the dessert table, Cowboy David’s Bakery embraced the summer sunset color palette with a three-tier cake painted in shades of burgundy, orange, yellow, cream, and blue. They added celestial elements like small stars and glowing spheres to represent moons moving around a planet, wrapping around the cake and moving between the tiers.
